What Is Distance Reiki?
Distance Reiki is a form of Reiki energy healing offered without physical touch and without being in the same location as the practitioner. It is also known as remote Reiki, online Reiki, or long distance Reiki. Reiki works with the understanding that energy is not confined by physical proximity, and just as awareness, emotion, and intention are not limited by location, Reiki can be offered across distance through presence and focused attention.
Receiving Reiki from a distance asks nothing of you beyond rest and openness, which lets your body and nervous system respond in their own time. If you would like a clearer foundation on the practice itself, you can read What Is Reiki?
How an Online Reiki Session Works on Zoom
Your distance Reiki session is held on Zoom for its full length. Jackie begins by connecting with you, asking about your goals for the session, and answering any questions you have. Once the Reiki begins you can turn your camera off or lie down out of view, your audio stays on, and the session may include music or you can play your own.
Some people lie down and others sit comfortably, and remaining in familiar surroundings often helps the body relax, which gives the nervous system room to settle.
How to Prepare for a Distance Reiki Session
Choose a quiet space where you can lie down and will not be interrupted. A blanket, pillows, candles, crystals, incense, or soft music can make the space more comfortable.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing, drink water, and have a light snack beforehand in place of a heavy meal. Limit caffeine for at least four hours before your session, avoid alcohol and recreational drugs that day, and silence your devices before you begin.
Setting an intention, such as support with stress, emotional balance, or clarity, is optional, and you are also welcome to relax and receive without one. More detail is on the What to Expect & How to Prepare page.
What to Expect After Distance Reiki
Sensations during a session range from warmth and gentle movement to emotional release and deep relaxation, and some people feel very little during the session and notice changes afterward. Afterward, people often describe feeling calmer, more grounded, or mentally clearer, and some notice improved sleep or a greater sense of ease over the following days.
Drinking water and resting after your session is suggested. Some people feel tired or emotional afterward, and these effects are usually temporary. Let Jackie know if anything feels uncomfortable.
Is Distance Reiki Effective?
Many people wonder whether remote Reiki is effective without being physically present with a practitioner, and for many recipients the experience feels just as supportive as in-person sessions. Reiki does not rely on physical manipulation, and its effects are commonly felt through subtle shifts in regulation, awareness, and emotional balance.
Reiki is a complementary practice and does not replace medical or mental health care, diagnosis, or treatment.
Who Chooses Online Reiki Healing?
Distance Reiki is often chosen by people who feel sensitive, overwhelmed, or emotionally stretched and prefer to remain in their own space. It also suits people who live outside the Houston area, people whose schedules or travel limits make an in-person visit difficult, and people moving through life transitions or long periods of stress.
